Matchbook: En Patufet is not a simple matchbox, it isn’t in fact a matchbox per se, I mean it technically is, but it is more a small piece of art to me.

The project Matchbook, tiny tales in a matchbox was born out of curiosity for papercutting and the motivation to experiment a different technique of illustration.

A few years ago, I did some paper cutting work for my university final project, this time I decided to join various passions in one: illustration, miniatures, crafts and paper, to create different scenes from my favorite fairy tales.

The first one is Patufet, a traditional tale from Catalonia, the scene in the matchbox shows Patufet carrying a coin in his back on his way to town to buy some saffron for his mother.

I enjoyed like a little kid making this miniature, and watching it take shape and volume was pretty cool. Definitely not the last one I make for sure.
