Matchbook: Tales in a matchbox are different illustrated scenes from various traditional tales. All of them are put inside a matchbox

The first one of the series is from the Catalan folk tale En Patufet, that tells the story of a kid that is no taller than a hand, but that is brave as a giant. The scene depicts the moment Patufet in on his way to town carrying a coin his mother gave him so he could buy some daffron.

The project Matchbook, tales inside a matchbox was born out of curiosity to work with paper and the aim to experiment with a different technique.

The illustration has been done by cutting different layers of paper and adding layers of foam board to give more depth to the composition. A frame closes the piece with the intention to represent a small theater.

I used a limited palette to create a packaging inspired by old stamps and matchboxes.
